BluOS Streaming and Dirac Live for MDC2 Components

The NAD MDC2 BluOS-D adds BluOS high-resolution streaming and Dirac Live room correction to compatible NAD components with an MDC2 expansion slot. MDC2’s bidirectional architecture lets the module receive audio from the host component as well as return processed audio, so connected sources can be shared with other BluOS players and corrected by Dirac Live.

High-Resolution Multi-Room Streaming

BluOS provides app control, access to supported streaming services and internet radio, and synchronized playback across as many as 64 zones. The module supports audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and two-way Qualcomm aptX HD Bluetooth. Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking are included.

Room Correction Included

A calibrated microphone is supplied for Dirac Live setup. The included license corrects frequencies up to 500 Hz and the module can store as many as five filter profiles; a separately purchased Full Frequency license is available. Compatible products include the NAD C 399, C 389, C 379, and C 3050. Confirm the exact model and firmware before ordering, because original MDC products do not accept MDC2 cards.

George M. ★★★★★

The Dirac Live calibration completely transformed my listening room—the bass response tightened up noticeably after the first setup. Streaming high-res files through BluOS sounds cleaner than my old Bluetooth setup ever did.

Ellie ★★★★★

Took about fifteen minutes to slot in and update, and the instant the Dirac Live calibration ran, my muddy room just disappeared—first time my speakers have sounded this tight. Streaming from my phone is flawless too, zero dropouts even walking around the house.

Ellie G. ★★★☆☆

The installation was straightforward enough, and once it’s in, the BluOS streaming part works exactly as advertised. I just wish the Dirac Live setup didn’t take so many measurement passes to get right, but the end result is a noticeable improvement in bass response.
