The puck is 2.4 inches across and 1.2 inches tall, so it lifts a monitor a little over an inch. Sound On Sound describes the build as a black anodized aluminum top ring over a silver aluminum lower ring. Soft, slightly dished rubber discs sit top and bottom, and under load they act as gentle suction cups.
