Inside each cabinet is a 5.25-inch C-CAM mid-bass driver with RST III cone geometry and a 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter in a tuned waveguide, crossing over at 2.8 kHz. Monitor Audio rates them from 82 Hz to 35 kHz in-room at minus 6 dB, which is exactly the range height effects live in.

A Sealed Box Aimed at the Ceiling
The AMS 8G is one of only two sealed designs in the Silver 8G lineup, alongside the center speaker. The missing port is deliberate, and it is the right call for a speaker asked to fire at a ceiling.
A height module fires upward into a reflective ceiling. A port would add turbulence noise to a signal that already has to survive a bounce before it reaches your seat. Sealed also means tighter control, which matters when effects are short and sharp.
The tweeter waveguide is the other piece of the puzzle. Monitor Audio pairs the eighth-generation Gold Dome tweeter, with its vented rear chamber and ring neodymium magnet, with a waveguide tuned for this job. Controlling how sound leaves the cabinet is what makes a reflected effect land in place rather than smearing across the ceiling.
The load is easy at 8 ohms nominal, though it dips to 3.5 ohms at 6.8 kHz, and Monitor Audio asks for only 15 to 60 watts into 8 ohms. That is well within what any Atmos receiver delivers on its height channels.
Through-Bolt Technology anchors the driver to the rear of the cabinet at a set torque. Internal bracing and damping keep the small enclosure quiet, which matters more in a box this size than in a large one.
